Atlético Madrid beat Huesca 2–0 to regain the top spot in the Spanish Football League La Liga, while two goals from Lionel Messi helped Barcelona beat Getafe 5–2 to maintain themselves in the title race.
Atletico’s goals were scored by Angel Korea and Yannick Carresco. This puts Atletico’s 73 points with 22 wins in 32 matches and is three points ahead of Real Madrid. With Messi’s goals in the eighth and 33rd minutes, Barcelona again managed to finish third. He now has 68 points from 31 matches.
Messi scored the opening goal for Barcelona. After this, suicide goals were scored from both teams. Barcelona defender Clement Langlett delivered the ball in his own goal in the 12th minute, while Getafe’s Sophiaan Chakala scored a suicide goal in the 28th minute. Messi soon made the score 3–1 but Enes Unal converted a penalty in the 69th minute to make the score 3–2. For Barcelona, Ronald Arrujo scored in the 87th minute and Antoine Griezmann scored in injury time.
