Started playing cricket on the inspiration of mother

Venkatesh started playing cricket after being inspired by his mother. After doing B.Com, he passed the entrance examination of Chartered Accounts. But he chose cricket between CA and cricket. In the year 2018, the big accounting organization Deloitte had offered him a job in Bangalore. But he turned down this job to play Ranji. After this, in 2018 itself, he was selected in the Ranji of Madhya Pradesh.
Mother was afraid that Venkatesh might get sick by studying too much

Venkatesh used to study day/night at home. Seeing him engrossed in studies, the mother was afraid that her son might fall ill. So Venkatesh’s mother sent him to play cricket so that his health would be better. In an interview given to ESPNcricinfo, Venkatesh said, I started playing cricket at the behest of my mother, perhaps she was worried that studying at home all day could have a bad effect on my health.

Started playing cricket for Madhya Pradesh

Before playing IPL, Venkatesh had made his debut in T20 and 50 overs cricket for Madhya Pradesh. He was also the captain of the state’s Under-23 team. Venkatesh further says in the interview, I decided to leave my CA to do MBA in Finance, I took many entrance exams, got good marks and got admission in the best college, I was happy that with my studies Together I was able to play cricket.

26-year-old Venkatesh Iyer received the cap from KKR ahead of the match against Royal Challengers Bangalore on 20 September. This was his debut IPL match. After which he thanked his mother. He has now played two matches in the IPL and has played amazing innings in both the matches.

When it comes to his interests outside of academics and cricketer, Iyer is a big Rajinikanth fan and never misses a Thalaivaar movie. “(I am) a Thalaivar (boss) devotee. I can watch his movies ‘n’ number of times. He’s a legend,” he shared in an interview.
