Jay Shah is an Indian business executive, engineer, and son of Indian Home Minister Amit Shah. Jay Shah is on the post of secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), and also, he is also the president of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC).

After completing his formal education, Jay Shah joined his family business of PVC pipelines. Then, in 2004, Jay Shah started his own trading business company under the name ‘Temple Enterprises Pvt Ltd.’ Jay Shah and Jitendra Shah, an old family friend, were the two directors of the firm. The company shut its operations in October 2016. Jay Shah holds a 60 percent stake in Kusum Finserve, a stock trading and marketing consultancy company.

Jay was appointed as an executive member of the Gujarat Cricket Association (GCA) in 2009 and was elevated to the position of joint secretary of GCA in 2013. The biggest project that he oversaw during his tenure as the GCA Joint Secretory was the construction of the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

In 2015, junior Shah made a debut in BCCI administration as a member of the finance and marketing committees of the board. In September 2019, he abdicated from the position of GCA joint secretary and was elected as the secretary of BCCI in the next month. He was the youngest person ever to have held the post.

He has been representing BCCI in CEC meetings of the International Cricket Council since December 2019. In January 2021, Jay Shah was appointed as the president of the Asian Cricket Council. He was the youngest person to have acquired the position of ACC president.
Controversy
On 8 October 2017, The Wire, an Indian online news portal, published a story titled ‘The Golden Touch of Jay Amit Shah,’ allegedly reporting massive revenue growth of Jay Shah’s businesses a year after the arrival of BJP in power at the center. In the story, published by an investigative reporter, Rohini Singh, serious corruption allegations were made against Jay Shah, along with supporting data that showed exponential growth and financial irregularities related to his company. The investigative article reported that in the financial year 2014-15, a company (Temple Enterprise; closed in 2016) owned by Jay Shah registered a profit of Rs. 18,728 on revenues of only Rs. 50,000 before jumping to an overwhelming turnover of Rs. 80.5 crore in the financial year 2015-16, a surge of 16000 times. The various revelations made in the article raised a political storm, with the opposition party demanding a Supreme Court-monitored probe into the matter. In response to the story, Jay Shah filed a Rs. 100 crore defamation criminal suit in the Ahmedabad Court against seven respondents, including the author of the article, and editors of the online news portal. The case was lodged under IPC sections 500 (defamation), 109 (abetment), 39 (voluntarily causing grievous hurt), and 120 B (criminal conspiracy). The case is still pending in the trial court.
